The past 12 months at Domestic Violence Victoria have been a time of enormous change intended to deliver long term benefits to our members, the sector, the system and ultimately, victim-survivors. At a Special General Meeting in March, our members voted overwhelmingly in favour of a merger between DV Vic and Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria (DVRCV). This was the culmination of an in-depth merger exploration process and due diligence process, led by Alison Macdonald as Acting CEO.
This merger is the best path forward to build and sustain a robust peak body, and bring together the respective strengths of each organisation. It enables our sustainability and autonomy. These attributes are critical to our relevance over the next decade, and our capacity to ensure specialist family violence expertise and practice wisdom shapes how Victoria’s system evolves. The Board remains focused on our longer-term ambition, notwithstanding how the world has changed since the beginning of the year.
